26401TI Fake AP Review: Start With the Genuine Watch
Audemars Piguet reference 26401TI.OO.A027CA.01 is a Royal Oak Offshore chronograph. Case: titanium, 44 mm, about 14.5 mm thick. Dial: blue with the Mega Tapisserie grid. Strap: blue rubber. Movement: AP caliber 3126/3840, automatic, 21,600 vph, 50-hour power reserve. Sapphire crystal and sapphire caseback. Water resistance: 100 m. Production ran from about 2013 to 2018.
Every fake review starts at those numbers. A replica has to match titanium, blue, and a 44 mm case. Most do not.
26401TI Fake AP Comparison Guide
Tell 1: Beat Rate
The 3126/3840 runs at 21,600 vph. That is 6 beats per second. Most fake 26401TI watches run a Valjoux 7750 clone at 28,800 vph, or 8 beats per second. Record the running seconds subdial on a phone at 240 fps. Count the ticks in one second. Six ticks points to the genuine beat rate. Eight points to a 7750 base.
Tell 2: Crown and Pushers
The genuine watch uses black ceramic for the crown and the chronograph pusher caps. Fakes use steel, coated steel, or plastic. Ceramic does not scratch under a steel pin. Coated steel does. Under daylight the ceramic reads matte black. Coatings read grey-black.
26401TI Fake AP Price: What a Replica Royal Oak Offshore Titanium Actually Costs
Tell 3: Dial and Date
Mega Tapisserie squares have raised edges and sharp corners. Cheap fakes flatten the small squares and print the AP logo instead of applying it. The date font on fakes is wider and sits deeper in the window. Hands on fakes are thicker at the base and the lume fill is uneven.
Tell 4: Caseback and Engraving
Genuine: sapphire caseback, skeletonized oscillating weight with the AP crest, movement number engraved and matching the papers. Fakes use a solid back or a mineral glass back with a printed rotor. Engraving depth on fakes is shallow. Case side brushing on fakes runs one direction; the genuine case alternates brushed and polished planes.
Market Tiers
Three tiers show up in listings. The notes below come from buyer posts on watch forums, not from my own testing.
- Budget, $80 to $200: mineral glass, steel case, painted pusher caps, no working chronograph on some units.
- Mid, $250 to $500: sapphire crystal, titanium-coated steel case, working chronograph, closer dial grid.
- High, $600 to $1,200: titanium or near-titanium case, sapphire caseback, decorated rotor, sharper dial grid. Photographs well. Hands-on gaps remain in the movement, the engraving, and the strap hardware.
Prices shift with supply. Verify anything current before you rely on it.
Bottom Line
No replica is a 26401TI. Service access, spare parts, and resale value do not transfer. For authentication, a watchmaker with an AP parts account is the only check that holds up in court.
