The short answer

"v5" is a seller label for a copy of the IWC Da Vinci Chronograph ref. IW376019. IWC does not use version numbers. No factory registry exists, and no public list defines what v5 adds over v4. Two sellers can both write v5 and ship different watches. Use the label as a question to ask, not as a spec.

What the real IW376019 is

IWC released the Da Vinci Chronograph in 2012 as the ref. 3764 family. The watch runs caliber 89361, an in-house flyback chronograph. Points that show on the dial:

Replica Da Vinci IW376019 v9: What to Check Before Buying

  • Steel case, about 42 mm across
  • Caliber 89361, automatic, flyback, 68-hour power reserve
  • Chronograph hours and minutes share one counter at 12 o'clock
  • Running seconds at 6 o'clock
  • Date window at 3 o'clock
  • Sapphire crystal, 3 bar water resistance
  • Leather strap with a steel folding clasp

The combined hour and minute counter is the part replicas get wrong. On cheap builds the two hands sit on separate axes or the counter does not reset to zero.

What to check before you pay

  1. Case size. Ask for a caliper photo across the case at 9 and 3. Anything under 41 mm or over 43 mm is a different case.
  2. Counter at 12. Start the chronograph, let it run 61 minutes, then stop. The minute hand should sit at 1 minute and the hour hand should sit just past 1 hour. One hand moving alone means a fake layout.
  3. Reset. Press the bottom pusher with the chrono stopped. Both hands at 12 must land on the marker. A lazy reset points to a low-grade movement.
  4. Date font and window cut. Compare with a photo of the genuine dial. Oversized windows and bold numerals are common on low tiers.
  5. Crown and caseback engraving. Ask for a macro shot. Laser etching looks grey and flat next to stamped steel.
  6. Weight. A steel 42 mm chronograph on a strap sits near 90 g. Ask the seller to weigh it.

Movement

Most copies of this reference use an Asian 7750 base with added parts, or a clone built to mimic caliber 89361. Ask which one is in the watch. A 7750 runs at 28,800 vph and gives a smooth sweep. It also adds thickness, so check the case height against the genuine 14 mm figure if that matters to you.

Price and what it buys

Prices for a v5 build of this model sit in the low hundreds of US dollars on most replica sites. Under $200 usually means a 7750 with no decoration and a mineral crystal. Above $400 buys better finishing, sapphire with anti-reflective coating, and closer dial print. Nothing in this range buys real water resistance past hand washing.

What is not known

There is no verifiable list of v5 changes, no factory name attached to the label, and no serial tracking. If a seller cannot send photos of the actual unit, the version number tells you nothing.

Questions to send the seller

  • Which movement, and how many jewels?
  • Case diameter and thickness, measured?
  • Sapphire or mineral crystal?
  • Photos of the chrono running at 61 minutes and after reset
  • Return policy if the counter fails
