The Real Watch
Blancpain was founded in 1735. The Villeret line takes its name from the village of Villeret in the Swiss Jura. In 1988 Blancpain released the caliber 25, a flying tourbillon with a date and an 8-day power reserve. Later Villeret tourbillon references use the caliber 6928, an automatic with a 168-hour power reserve. A flying tourbillon has no upper bridge. The cage is held from below, so the top of the cage stays open. That part is hard to machine and hard to regulate.

- Seagull ST8000 and close variants. Manual wind, one-minute tourbillon, 40 to 46 hours of reserve. Common in 40 mm cases.

Checks Before You Pay
Ask for a photo of the movement. Count the bridges and look for a cage with a top bridge or without one. Ask for a video. The cage should turn once in 60 seconds. Check the date font. Copy date wheels use thicker numerals than Blancpain. Check thickness. A 14 mm case on a 40 mm watch sits high on the wrist. Ask about the power reserve. No $400 copy holds 168 hours.
Limits
No replica Villeret tourbillon matches Blancpain finishing. Anglage, black polish, and hand-engraved bridges are absent at this price. Factory names change. The same watch appears under different labels from different sellers. Caseback reference numbers do not match Blancpain records. Resale value is near zero.
